Reconciliation

The sacrament of Reconciliation is received by baptised Catholic children, usually in the summer term of Year 3.

Year 3 take another step along their Faith Journey, by receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a chance to say sorry to God for the things they have done that have hurt God, others and themselves. When God created man, in his image and likeness, he knew we would make wrong choices so he gave us the gift of Reconciliation so that we have the opportunity to put our wrongs, right and grow closer, to God; following in his ways.

The children usually receive Holy Communion in the summer term. This sacrament is widely celebrated by the entire school and parish community. Non-catholic peers are included in celebrations.

The school catechist for Y3 is Mrs L Bond.

Confirmation

Children in Year 6 continue their faith journey by embarking upon preparation to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. Their preparation takes place thorough lessons in school, where they learn to grow in faith whilst considering the role of the Disciple. They have the opportunity to research name saints who inspire them and with whom they can personally relate. During this time they are supported to further develop the idea of service to others through the many responsibilities they fulfil for the school, the role of Faith-Friends and service to the community as part of the Elderly Parishioners’ Christmas Meal. The Bishop confirms the children, during a moving service which is well supported by the parish community.

The school catechist for Y6 is Mrs L Bond.

If you do not attend St Anthony’s but are interested in preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion, Confirmation or would like to know more about the Catholic Faith please contact Fr Gary Mantle on 01902 782144.
